Outcomes of ESA’s CM25
ESA’s latest Ministerial Council (CM25) secured a record €22.1 billion in commitments, a 32% increase vs 2022, marking a major boost for Europe’s space autonomy and technology leadership.
Member States pledged €5 billion specifically for technology under an upgraded GSTP, whose budget grows by 70% to support critical technologies from early R&D to in-orbit demos. A new Resilience and Security Component (€200M) was created to strengthen European sovereignty in sensitive areas and ensure long-term autonomy in key technologies.
ESA and its Member States also singled out four priority domains for the next decade: AI, quantum technologies, propulsion, and sustainable space technologies, positioning Europe to stay competitive in an increasingly strategic and industrialised space sector.
