Golden Opportunity: Looking for the Startups That Will Launch You into Space

ASTRA Accelerator Launches a New Cohort and Invites Groundbreaking Companies in Aerospace, Space, and Defense

The ASTRA acceleration program, jointly operated by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the global accelerator network Starburst, is opening its 7th cohort in Israel and is calling on early-stage entrepreneurs and startups to apply. ASTRA is the only dedicated program in Israel for startups in the fields of aerospace, space, defense, and dual-use technologies, solutions that combine both civilian and military applications.

The program spans seven months and includes five months of intensive bootcamp followed by two additional months of strategic support. Only four companies are selected per cycle to ensure highly focused and personalized engagement. Selected startups may receive a comprehensive support package valued at $200,000, half as a financial investment and half in the form of strategic support, mentorship, business development connections, and close guidance through fundraising efforts.

ASTRA targets startups in sectors such as aerospace systems, air defense, autonomy, satellite communications, advanced sensors, critical infrastructure, resilient technologies, and more. Accepted companies gain access to leading IAI technologists, opportunities for technological feasibility testing, and potential collaborations with top-tier global partners including Raytheon, Airbus, Northrop Grumman, and others.

Beyond technical support, the program emphasizes strategic refinement, helping startups improve product-market fit, sharpen their go-to-market strategies, and shorten their time to reach customers and decision-makers. Participating companies also gain extensive exposure to both local and international investors, as well as opportunities to take part in industry events, air shows, and business meetings.

The upcoming cohort is expected to begin in summer 2025 and will be hosted at ASTRA’s innovation hub in the Midtown Tower in Tel Aviv, a coworking space at the heart of Israel’s high-tech scene.

Noemie Alliel, Managing Director of Starburst Israel, shared:
“Our program is designed to address the real challenges startups in these domains face, from lack of initial funding, to long sales cycles, and difficulties breaking into conservative and complex markets. ASTRA connects startups with the defense, government, and commercial ecosystems, providing them with the critical support needed to transform their growth trajectory.”
