Tech Scout (internship)

The position is for immediate support in scouting, technical due diligence, and managing relationships with incredible startups. The appropriate candidate will be the voice of Starburst, connecting the dots with our customers needs and startup technologies and is passionate about the changing landscape of the aerospace market. The ideal candidate will have worked for an industry major like Boeing, Northrop or Raytheon, delivered value to a program, is looking to make an impact, and enjoys having a conversation with dreamers about game-changing technologies.


Responsibilities:

– Scouting, sourcing, and identifying potential startups to join the Starburst community;
– Assessing startup technology viability and fit for the Starburst community;
– Preparing and managing briefing slides and presentations for presenting to Corporate Partners;
– Coordinating and communicating cold applications and other leads submitted on behalf of the entire business;
– Overseeing and taking full accountability of the master database with regular reviews to ensure the best startups are being considered by industry leaders;
– Support with logistics for selection committees, matchmaking, office hours and other pitch events;
– Supporting the Managing Director, Operations Manager, and COO with various tasks and activities;
– Managing resources, including supporting staff for scouting, logistics, etc.


Expectations:

– Pursuing B.S. in Engineering, Math, or Physics
– Work experience in a major aerospace corporate, preferably in the range of 1-5 years
– Familiarity of the startup ecosystem and venture culture
– Fluent with excel and powerpoint, conducting online research and presenting useful information in an effective way
– Resourceful, creative, easy to talk to with a positive can-do attitude!
– Entrepreneurial spirit, responsive to work actions on Sundays at midnight, and always down for a beer (or champagne when our French colleagues visit)

Strategy Consultant

Starburst is a global Aerospace consulting and technology scouting company focused on innovation, with offices in Los Angeles, Montreal, Paris, Munich, and Singapore. We are experts on business growth based on new products and new markets (providing market analysis, trends, drivers, go-to-market strategies, product-market fit, business planning, due diligence, valuation, and more), business digitization for productivity increase and revenue growth based on innovations, corporate innovation performance (assessment and strategy, incubators and corporate VC), and technology scouting.


We are looking for an experienced consultant (engagement manager or principal level) for growing our business. This is an excellent career opportunity to step up from the trenches and develop and manage your own client relationships. In the past you have delivered many projects at multiple major aviation/defense/space corporates, ideally some with functional emphasis on innovation and growth.



Responsibilities:

– Build relationships with our existing clients and develop new ones;

Program Manager - Urban Air Mobility Accelerator

What will you be doing
Your main responsibility as the Program Manager will be designing and rolling out the content of our Urban Air Mobility program. In collaboration with the Program Managing Director, you will be running a 13-week, multiple cohort innovation bootcamp program, focusing on business development, funding opportunities and engagement with the program partners. In this position you’ll be:
– Leading the startup scouting, engagement and selection process for the accelerator program
– Running the day-to-day of the innovation program including support of bootcamp programming, mentor engagement as well as program communication
– Managing customer and community engagement & communication
– Supporting the marketing campaign of the program together with the global team
– Assist to build and deliver the global brand awareness & demo day campaign
– Contributing to the further development of the program


Who you are
– Graduated from a well-ranked engineering or business school
– Strong personal interest and knowledge in aviation, space, and defense innovation
– Experience in urban air mobility, venture capital and/or acceleration programs is a plus
– Proven attention to detail for delivering high-quality customer satisfaction

What will you be doing?

Think of it as a cross of McKinsey project analysis, Startup Bootcamp networking, Boeing supply chain and NASA program support. You will help manage and develop the accelerator program through the following end-to-end activities:
– Startup sourcing and scouting to constantly be abreast of the latest developments in the startup ecosystem
– Research, data analysis, and producing industry reports that keep us as industry thought leaders
– Support with logistics, e.g. office space and event management – we are a startup after all and this is the full experience of creating and running everything from scratch, in a lean setup
