Helsing and HENSOLDT Partner on AI-Enabled Combat Air Systems

Helsing and HENSOLDT have announced a partnership to advance AI-enabled combat air capabilities through the development of Helsing’s CA-1 autonomous aircraft, positioned in the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) market.

The CA-1 will integrate Helsing’s Centaur AI agent, designed to operate as an autonomous fighter pilot, capable of flying independently or within a swarm. HENSOLDT will contribute its sensor technologies, including radar, optronics, self-protection, and electromagnetic warfare systems, integrated via its Multi-Domain Operations Core software suite.

The companies state that the combined system will enable autonomous mission execution and secure information processing. The CA-1, unveiled in September in Bavaria, is expected to become operational within four years.

The partnership builds on existing cooperation between the two firms, including joint work with Kongsberg on a European satellite constellation for intelligence, surveillance, and target acquisition.
