Innovation Corridor Defense Accelerator: Celebrating Cohort 1 at Demo Day
A few weeks ago, the inaugural cohort of the Innovation Corridor Defense Accelerator (ICDA) took the stage at the Austin Central Library for Demo Day, marking the conclusion of the programme’s first edition.
The event brought together the 10 startups from the inaugural cohort with investors, defence operators, government partners, and members of the wider Texas innovation ecosystem. It was an opportunity for the founders to showcase the progress made throughout the programme and demonstrate the technologies they are developing across aerospace, defence, and dual-use applications.
Showcasing the Next Generation of Texas Defence Innovation
The first ICDA cohort brought together companies addressing a diverse range of challenges, from drone detection and counter-UAS to quantum sensing, advanced materials, unmanned systems, and edge AI.
The participating startups included:
- AirSentinel
- DETEQT
- DETEC Digital
- LumiStrain
- Solid State Metal
- Uncrewed Aerospace
- Helix Defense
- Phinorm
Their Demo Day pitches highlighted not only the diversity of technologies being developed across the San Antonio–Austin corridor, but also the growing depth of the region’s aerospace and defence innovation ecosystem.
From Local Innovation to Market Opportunities
Throughout the programme, founders were connected with investors, primes, government stakeholders, and ecosystem partners, while receiving targeted support on areas such as defence sales, IP strategy, business development, and scaling dual-use technologies.
The Demo Day provided a final opportunity to bring these conversations together and showcase how the companies are progressing toward commercial growth and real-world deployment.
It also demonstrated the potential of the San Antonio–Austin corridor as a growing hub for companies developing technologies at the intersection of aerospace, defence, and dual-use innovation.
Applications Open for Cohort 2
Following the successful first edition, applications for Cohort 2 are now open until 16 October 2026.
The next cohort will run from December 2026 to March 2027, with in-person sessions across the San Antonio–Austin corridor and a Demo Day planned for March 2027.
The programme will provide selected companies with access to:
- Investors, primes, and government stakeholders
- Workshops on defence sales, IP strategy, and scaling dual-use products
- Starburst’s global aerospace and defence network
- A community of founders and ecosystem partners
Building dual-use technology in aerospace or defence? Applications are open.
