Odys Aviation Partners with Honeywell Aerospace

A major milestone has been reached as Odys Aviation partners with Honeywell Aerospace Technologies to develop a new airborne counter-UAS (unmanned aerial system) solution. This collaboration represents more than a year of joint development and systems integration, aiming to enhance defense capabilities and deliver an advanced solution for modern airspace threats.

The Solution: Laila – A Long-Range Hybrid-Electric VTOL Aircraft

Through this partnership, Honeywell’s SAMURAI Autonomous Airborne platform has been adapted and integrated into Laila, Odys Aviation’s long-range hybrid-electric VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft. The result is a state-of-the-art airborne counter-UAS solution that provides a new defensive layer for airspace protection.

Key Benefits of the New Counter-UAS Solution

This cutting-edge system offers several distinct advantages in defending against drone threats:

  • Bridges the gap between ground sensors and missile defense systems, creating a more integrated defense network.
  • Reduces reliance on costly kinetic defenses, offering a more cost-effective approach to countering threats.
  • Extends protection from the doorstep to the horizon, providing a broader defense radius and safeguarding critical infrastructure and airspace.

As threats from unmanned aerial systems continue to evolve, this collaboration with Honeywell aims to provide a modern and effective solution to keep airspace safe.

A Modern Solution for Modern Threats

In today’s fast-changing threat landscape, traditional defense methods often fall short. The joint effort between Odys Aviation and Honeywell is paving the way for more advanced, versatile defense technologies that are better equipped to meet the challenges of modern warfare and airspace security.
