Hermeus Reaches $1 Billion Valuation with $350M Series C to Accelerate High-Mach Aircraft Development
Hermeus, a defense aviation company specializing in high-Mach unmanned aircraft, has closed a $350 million Series C funding round, reaching a $1 billion valuation. The round was led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from existing investors including Canaan Partners, Founders Fund, RTX Ventures, Bling Capital, and In-Q-Tel, as well as new backers such as Cox Enterprises, Socium Ventures, and others.
From Prototyping to Mission-Ready Systems
This new funding marks a critical transition for Hermeus, enabling the company to move from prototyping to mission-ready high-Mach platforms. Following the successful flight of Quarterhorse Mk 2.1, the company is now approaching supersonic flight and scaling development toward a fleet of three F-16-scale aircraft.
The next phase will focus on reaching Mach 3 capabilities and integrating customer payloads, addressing key operational needs in modern defense environments.
Scaling Industrial Capabilities
To support this acceleration, Hermeus is expanding its industrial footprint with a new headquarters in El Segundo, California, while its Atlanta facility transitions toward production. This dual-site strategy reflects a shift from experimentation to scalable manufacturing.
The company’s hardware-first execution model remains central to its approach, enabling rapid iteration and validation of high-speed flight technologies under real-world conditions.
Addressing a Strategic Capability Gap
Hermeus is positioning itself to address a growing need in defense aviation: high-speed, flexible, and scalable airborne capabilities. By combining rapid development cycles with ambitious performance targets, the company aims to deliver systems aligned with the pace and complexity of modern conflict environments.
With over $500 million raised to date, this latest round reinforces Hermeus’ trajectory toward becoming a key player in next-generation defense aviation.
